Life-inspired Art

PERSONALIZED WINE LABELS – Custom photo wine labels make unique gifts for birthdays and weddings, for the holidays, for celebrating all of life's special occasions with family or friends! Here in the San Francisco Bay Area, I once worked for a graphic design firm that specialized in wine labels. I'm hardly a wine connoisseur but ever since then I have always noticed graphically-pleasing wine labels. In 2009 it hit me that I should make my own unique gift for a friend's 60th birthday celebration, and that was the first of my label designs. I'm still creating more for my collection... what fun it's been!

Actually all art is life-inspired. But this site has developed out of my life and inspiration. I began this creative endeavor when I was newly retired in July of 2007 and was contemplating this next phase of my life. I set forth on a mission to pursue those things I am passionate about and inspired by. These include (but of course are not limited to) art, traveling, gardening, digital photography, the outdoors. This ongoing mission has been very rewarding, and I feel blessed. I believe that finding and pursuing one's inspiration and passion – in and for life – is important.

I had started out in the work force as a computer programmer. But something else tugged at me, and I was very fortunate to be able to go back to school at the age of 34, to follow what had always been my heart's desire - art. My focus became graphic design. The school was California College of Arts & Crafts (now known as California College of the Arts). Now here I am, some(!) years later, retired but still following my creative path, as I always will - it's in my core.

 

My very first creative project upon retirement was PhotoQuotes. They are comprised of photographs (mine) + words of wisdom (others'). Quotations that have inspired and/or amused me have been superimposed over photos I've taken while traveling, in my garden, or just out 'n about. The original design was in the form of inspirational, easel display cards for my desk. When the mood struck, I'd move a new "thought for the day" to the front. Then they evolved into wall art, with wire hangers holding one, or 3 - a triptych of sorts. I had so much fun researching the quotes, then finding the most appropriate photo from my collection... I was hooked! They became 'Quotes To Live By'. And I kept going, next creating 'Quotes For Gardeners' and then, being a cat owner, 'Quotes For Cat Lovers'. I hope you'll enjoy the thoughts and images on these pages as much as I've enjoyed and benefited in the process of creating them. Perhaps you'll be able to relate and may find inspiration too...
